Stupid Shoes!

This sketch is based off of what happened to me last Saturday. A group of us went to see a sneak peak of Ratatouille. I wore dress sandals (no heels) thinking we wouldn’t be walking around too much. But, we did walk back and forth between Navy Pier and the AMC River East a few times- By the end of the night, every step I took was incredibly painful! When I got home, I realized that the sandle straps had actually rubbed my skin away! OUCH! When you buy a pair of shoes, you assume you should be able to walk in them! >,<

Along Came a Spider!

Until now, this blog has been only for my sketches and animation. But, I just had to share this story:

Saturday afternoon I was in the basement, picking up a pile of dish towels to throw in the washing machine. At the bottom of the pile was a HUGE, SCARY SPIDER!!!! Ahhhhhh!!!! I screamed and captured it with a cup before it ran too far. A few minutes later, Catherine, Megan, and I all stood around it wide-eyed trying to figure out what the heck it was! We'd never seen such a big spider in our house before, so we took pictures and video with our cell phones. (see video above- Catherine took the video with my phone while i held the flashlight) Then, we put it in a jar and examined it. Megan thought it looked like a POSIONUS Brown Recluse Spider! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_recluse_spider It’s the only poisonous spider in our area. It had 6 eyes and a strip on its abdomen. But, later Megan’s fiancĂ©e said it’s not a brown recluse spider because of the eye arrangement. Well, whatever it is, I really hope we don't have more!!!! :o

Update- Someone at work identified it as a Wolf Spider. :D

this week's sketches

Eeek...I have been dreading this year since I was a little kid, last time the cicatas were here. We had one bad cicata expierence, but haven't been too freaked out this time. We don't have any at the house. Only on our walk from the parking lot to the train station.

At work, it's usually sooo quiet, I feel too loud when I sharpen my pencils with my super-fast X-acto pencil sharpener.
At a screening Thursday night, a poet read his poem- this is based off him. Apparently a lotta Chicago folks know this guy...
Some figure drawings from the other week- i really need to work on my fig. drawing skills!! blah!

Angel & Demon

I felt like playing around, so here are colored versions of the sketches I did in the previous post. I was trying something different with the demon...not sure...originally I wanted to do something more flat and graphic, but I kept going and it turned out like this. As for the angel, hopefully I'll have time later to do some more work on her.
